Terms and Conditions

1. About Us

Handy Horsewoman ("we", "us", "our") provides equestrian property maintenance and cleaning services, including but not limited to:

  • Deep cleaning of horse stables

  • Cleaning of equestrian buildings and facilities

  • Hot washing and grooming-related cleaning services for horses

  • Painting of stables, barns, and related buildings

  • General equestrian property maintenance services

These Terms and Conditions govern all services supplied by Handy Horsewoman.

2. Booking Services

Bookings may be made through our website, by telephone, email, social media, or other agreed methods.
A booking is confirmed when:

  • We accept your request; and

  • Any required deposit has been paid.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel bookings where necessary.

3. Quotations

All quotations are based on information provided by the customer.
If the actual condition of the property, buildings, stables, or horses differs significantly from the description provided, we may:

  • Revise the quotation;

  • Charge additional fees for extra work required; or

  • Decline to proceed with the service.

Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

4. Customer Responsibilities

The customer agrees to:

  • Provide safe and reasonable access to the property.

  • Ensure adequate water and electricity supplies are available where required.

  • Inform us of any hazards, dangerous conditions, or aggressive animals.

  • Ensure horses are fit to be handled and cleaned.

  • Secure animals that may pose a risk to workers.

  • Obtain any permissions required from landlords, yard owners, or property owners.

We may suspend or refuse work where safety concerns exist.

5. Horse Washing Services

When providing horse washing services:

  • The customer remains responsible for the horse at all times.

  • We rely on information provided by the customer regarding temperament, health conditions, injuries, allergies, or behavioural issues.

  • We reserve the right to stop work if a horse becomes distressed, dangerous, or poses a risk to safety.

  • We are not liable for pre-existing medical conditions, behavioural issues, or complications arising from undisclosed information.
     

6. Cleaning Services

We will use reasonable skill and care when carrying out cleaning services.
While we aim to achieve the best possible results, we cannot guarantee the complete removal of:

  • Staining;

  • Mould;

  • Rust;

  • Paint marks;

  • Odours; or

  • Other long-standing contamination.

Results may vary depending on the age and condition of surfaces.

7. Painting Services

Customers must disclose any known structural defects, water damage, rot, or hazardous materials.
Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Surface preparation is limited to what is included in the quotation.

  • Colours and finishes must be approved by the customer before work begins.

  • Natural variations in colour, texture, and finish may occur.
     

8. Pricing and Payment

Payment terms will be specified on your quotation or invoice.
Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Payment is due within 7 days of invoice.

  • Deposits are non-refundable once materials have been purchased or work has been scheduled.

Late payments may result in:

  • Additional charges;

  • Suspension of future services; and/or

  • Debt recovery action.
     

9. Cancellations

Customers may cancel a booking by notifying us in writing.
Where cancellation occurs:

  • More than 7 days before the booking date: no cancellation charge.

  • Between 48 hours and 7 days before the booking date: up to 50% of the quoted price may be charged.

  • Less than 48 hours before the booking date: up to 100% of the quoted price may be charged.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule services due to:

  • Severe weather;

  • Illness;

  • Equipment failure;

  • Safety concerns; or

  • Circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
     

10. Health and Safety

We reserve the right to stop work immediately where:

  • Unsafe working conditions exist;

  • Animals present a danger;

  • Hazardous substances are present;

  • Abuse or threatening behaviour occurs.

Any charges incurred up to the time work is stopped remain payable.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is prohibited by law.
Subject to applicable law:

  • We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses.

  • Our total liability arising from any claim relating to our services shall not exceed the amount paid by the customer for the relevant service.

  • We are not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing defects, poor maintenance, hidden structural issues, or inaccurate information supplied by the customer.
     

12. Insurance

We maintain appropriate business insurance. Details may be provided upon reasonable request.
Customers remain responsible for maintaining their own insurance relating to:

  • Horses;

  • Buildings;

  • Property; and

  • Equipment.
     

13. Complaints

Any concerns regarding services provided should be reported within 7 days of completion.
We will investigate complaints and seek a reasonable resolution where appropriate.

14. Privacy

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection laws.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Updated versions will be published on our website.

16. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
